Prestigious Transfer Scholarships

NYU CCTOP New York University - Community College Transfer Opportunity Program 

The Community College Transfer Opportunity Program (CCTOP) is a scholarship and assistance program for students transferring from partnership community colleges into NYU.  The scholarship and advisement program are designed to help qualified community college students transfer to NYU.

Meeting all eligibility requirements does not guarantee applicants a CCTOP scholarship award, even if they are admitted to NYU. At present, NYU does not provide institutional aid to transfer students with the exception of certain partner or specialty programs such as CCTOP.

Benefits:

  • Yearly tuition scholarship
  • Assigned academic advisement in support

Eligibility:

  • Must be nominated by a faculty member or administrator at KCC
  • Currently enrolled in a partnering community college which includes Kingsborough CC.
  • Have a 3.0 cumulative GPA at the community college.
  • GPAs and credits required vary between NYU programs. At minimum, you must have 60 transferable credits and a 3.0 GPA.
  • Must submit a transfer application by the deadline
  • Note: NYU cannot sponsor visas for CCTOP students.
  • Not all academic programs or divisions accept CCTOP students. The following programs accept CCTOP students.
    • NYU College of Arts and Science (Humanities Programs), NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing, NYU School of Professional Studies–Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies, NYU Silver School of Social Work, NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development, NYU Tisch School of the Arts BFA in Interactive Media Arts

Kaplan Leadership Program

The Kaplan Educational Foundation works with high-potential community college students with financial need by providing them with resources and support to help them raise their expectations, expand their personal goals, and attain leadership roles in their professions and communities.

Benefits:

Financial Support:

  • Fees associated with the college transfer application process, cost of transfer applications up to 10 schools at a value of $1,000.
  • Once at the bachelor’s degree program, financial assistance with books, living stipend, tuition scholarships, new laptop for those who need, funding for study abroad & summer coursework

Transfer Support:

  • Personalized admissions advisement including but not limited to college visits, application & one-on-one essay writing support, & resume building
  • Admissions guidance for graduate and professional programs

Academic Advising:

  • Advisement on course selections, required coursework for transfer
  • Math & English tutoring, developing verbal & written communication skills

Leadership Development

  • Provide Practical & Transformational Leadership Skills
  • Coaching on self-advocacy, enhancing self-worth and self-confidence

Eligibility:

  • Currently enrolled full time in an associate degree program at a partnering community college which includes Kingsborough CC
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and qualify for federal financial aid
  • Committed to transfer to a Bachelor’s program immediately upon completion of an Associate’s Degree.

Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship

The Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship is a highly selective scholarship for the nation’s top community college students seeking to complete their bachelor’s degrees at four-year colleges or universities. Each Cooke Scholar has access to generous financial support for two to three years, college planning support, ongoing advising, and the opportunity to connect with the thriving community of fellow Scholars.

Benefits:

  • Up to $55,000 per year to attend, a four-year accredited undergraduate school.
  • Personal advising about selecting a college and navigating financial aid.
  • Multifaceted advising about how to transition to a four-year college and maximize the student experience
  • Career and graduate school preparation – including the opportunity to apply for internship stipends, conference stipends, and the Cooke Graduate Scholarship.
  • Opportunity to apply for the Internship Stipend program, Conference and Travel Stipend, and Graduate Scholarship.

Eligibility Requirement:

  • Have a cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 3.50 or better on a 4.0 scale
  • Demonstrate unmet financial needapplicants with a maximum adjusted gross income of $95,000 will be considered
  • No previous enrollment or attendance at a four-year institution – Students who have attended a four-year institution in the past are not eligible for this scholarship.
  • Students must exhibit an ability to organize and positively influence others in and out of school.

CUNY Transfer
Scholarships

BNY Scholarship

The BNY Scholarship was established through a grant from the BNY Foundation. This scholarship is intended for CUNY ASAP graduates pursuing their bachelor’s degree at a CUNY senior college in a STEM or Business field. This two-year scholarship is renewable annually, subject to eligibility.

Benefits:

  • BNY Scholars will receive up to $1,500 per semester to cover tuition, fees, and books after all financial aid has been applied.
  • Receive an exclusive invite to participate in the BNY S.T.A.R.T.U.P mentoring program.
  • Participants who successfully complete S.T.A.R.T.U.P will be eligible to apply for the BNY Future Talent Program (FTP). FTP is a paid, full-time summer internship at BNY Mellon.

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Be a successful graduate of CUNY ASAP by date specified on website
  • Matriculate at a CUNY senior college in an eligible STEM or Business major. Click here to view a list of eligible majors
  • Aim to enroll full time with 15 credits each semester or 30 credits per year, including winter and summer sessions
  • Be in good academic and social standing (have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher)
  • Submit the FAFSA and NYS TAP application each year and receive Pell and/or New York TAP awards.***
  • Attend occasional scholarship-focused events.
  • ***You can apply if you are eligible to apply for the New York State Dream Act.

Friedman Transfer Scholars Program

The Friedman Transfer Scholars Program provides a pathway for CUNY associate students to enter a Macaulay Honors bachelor’s program attending one of our partner colleges tuition free.

Benefits as a Friedman Scholar:

  • MetroCard for school transportation
  • Stipend for participation in and completion of the Summer Intensive Program of $1,200
  • Laptop for high need students
  • Individualized transfer advising

Benefits at the four-year as a Macaulay Scholar: 

  • A tuition scholarship
  • Access to the Opportunities Fund to participate in internship, study abroad or research
  • Individualized advising

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Enrolled in their second semester of their first year
  • Earned cumulative GPA of least 3.5
  • Full-time enrollment
  • Enrolled in enough credits to earn a total of 30 credits at the end of spring 2024
  • Anticipated associate completion Spring 2025

Guttman Transfer Scholarship

Guttman Transfer Scholarships offer benefits for outstanding CUNY community college students who transfer to an eligible CUNY senior college.  (Brooklyn, City, Hunter, Lehman, and Queens). Guttman Scholars receive up to $4,000 paid over two years. CUNY is able to offer these scholarships through an endowment provided by the Stella and Charles Guttman Foundation.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Earn an associate degree from any of CUNY’s community colleges
  • Have a current cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above
  • Apply and transfer to an eligible CUNY senior college (Brooklyn, City, Hunter, Lehman, and Queens)
  • Apply for financial aid by filing a Priority is given to those who are eligible for financial aid.
  • Not have previously attended a four-year institution
  • Must apply in your final semester before you graduate at your community college prior to transferring
