Office of Institutional Effectiveness

Institutional Research

Institutional Research is the source for official enrollment and historical trend data. We support the data-driven decision-making of faculty, staff, and administrators by providing official, accurate, high quality data and analysis to inform daily operations, student success initiatives, program development and assessment. Some examples of data that the office frequently provides are:

  • Kingsborough’s Institutional Profile which includes, but is not limited to enrollment in Majors, Concentrations and Special Programs, Aggregated Student Demographic Information (Ethnicity, Gender, Age) and Degrees Granted.
  • Course Outcome Data
  • Student Success Metrics including credit accumulation, retention rates and graduation rates
  • Transfer data including percent of Kingsborough students who transfer, where they transfer and what majors they enroll in at the transfer institution

The office also frequently provides institutional data to Kingsborough departments and programs to support grant writing and management, guide strategic planning and fulfill internal and external reporting obligations.

In general, the office may only provide aggregated and de-identified information. Data are made available only to Kingsborough stakeholders who have a need to know in order to fulfil their official responsibilities at the College

The extent of data we can provide may also be governed by compliance constraints, such as FERPA, Higher Education ACT and Americans with Disabilities Act. As data stewards, it is our responsibility to ensure student privacy and data security.
