The Leonard and Louise Riggio Scholarship
Kingsborough Community College received a $1 million gift to establish the Class of 2019 “Leonard and Louise Riggio Scholarship Fund” from Barnes & Noble, Inc. Founder and Chairman Leonard Riggio, who served as the keynote speaker for the College’s 54th Commencement Exercises in June. The “Leonard and Louise Riggio Scholarship Fund” will provide full tuition for 100 recent high school graduates who are beginning studies this fall at Kingsborough.
Moved by Kingsborough’s graduates, Mr. Riggio announced his commitment to providing scholarships to100 Kingsborough students who were in need of financial support, and that he would be giving the scholarships in the name of the 2019 Graduating Class.
Requirements
New in-state students
- Must be a first-time student at KCC for Fall 2024 (Transfer or Freshmen)
- Must complete a FAFSA and TAP application for 2024-2025
- Maximum duration of award is 4 semesters
- Enroll as a full-time matriculated student (12 or more credits)
- Commit to complete their associates degrees at KCC within two years (4 semesters)
- To remain eligible, students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
- Award – pays tuition balance after any type of aid (Maximum award $2400 per semester)
Continuing students – Fall 2024 or Spring 2025
- Must complete a FAFSA and TAP application for 2024-2025
- Maximum award duration will be a one-time payment
- Enroll as a full-time matriculated student (12 or more credits)
- Commit to complete their associates degrees at KCC within two years (4 semesters)
- Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
- Award – pays tuition balance after any type of aid (Maximum award $2400 per semester)
New students - Out of State or international student
- Must be a first-time student at KCC for Fall 2024 (Transfer or Freshmen)
- Maximum duration of award is 4 semesters
- Enroll as a full-time matriculated student (12 or more credits)
