How Does Pathways Affect You?

When will the CUNY Common Core/Pathways take effect?
The CUNY Common Core/Pathways applies to every student entering Kingsborough in Fall 2013 and after.  

How does the CUNY Common Core/Pathways apply to you?
If you are entering Kingsborough in Fall 2013 or after, you will complete the CUNY Common Core. Continuing students who entered Kingsborough before Fall 2013 may opt in to the CUNY Common Core/Pathways OR complete their existing degree requirements. Use the following chart to help you figure out how the CUNY Common Core/Pathways will affect you:

If you have:	you will:
0 14 credits	consult your advisor about opting in to the CUNY Common Core.
15 30 credits (as a continuing student)	choose to complete your existing degree requirements OR opt in to the CUNY Common Core/Pathways. Students who wish to opt in to the CUNY Common Core/Pathways must meet with an academic advisor to make sure opting in is the most efficient route to your degree completion. All continuing students who do not opt in to the CUNY Common Core/Pathways are required to complete the existing degree requirements for their major. Please note that students who opt in to the CUNY Common Core/Pathways may not change back to their previous degree requirements.
31 or more credits	complete your existing degree requirements.
Any number of credits and are a re-admit	meet with an academic advisor to decide if you should opt in or complete your existing degree requirements.

What if you want to change your major?
If you entered Kingsborough before Fall 2013 and plan to change your major, you may choose to opt in to the CUNY Common Core/Pathways or complete your existing degree requirements. Please discuss this decision with your advisor before you complete the Change of Major form, found in the Office of the Registrar (A-101).
