Implementation of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Training for the Academic Year 2023-2024

Kingsborough Community College is committed to the proactive fostering of greater inclusion and ultimately equity at every level of college life. For the upcoming Academic Year 2023-2024, Kingsborough will implement and provide Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training, including Anti-Semitism, for students, faculty, staff, and new hires. The following are the college’s proposed plan for advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training for the Academic Year 2023-2024.

  1. Online Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Training
    • Explore the acquisition of an online Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training platform curriculum for students, faculty, staff.
  2. Athletic Coaches
    • Implement mandatory training for E-SPARC, Workplace Violence, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training for athletic coaches.
  3. Student Life
    • Implement mandatory training for SPARC, Workplace Violence, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training for SGA, Student Club Officers.
    • Implement mandatory training for E-SPARC, Workplace Violence, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training for Student Club Advisors
  4. Enhancing Student Orientation
    • Develop and present video (featuring KCC students) of KCC values (which includes Diversity) and Equity and Inclusion for new and transfer students
    • Include information to include information for students on religious accommodations and accessibility services.
    • Create “student facing” DEI webpage which will include aforementioned video, information about religious accommodations, and link to University-Wide Discrimination and Retaliation Reporting Portal.
  5. Enhancing Student Orientation
    • Develop and present video (featuring KCC students) of KCC values (which includes Diversity) and Equity and Inclusion for new and transfer students
    • Include information to include information for students on religious accommodations and accessibility service
    • Include information regarding CUNY’s University-Wide Discrimination and Retaliation Reporting Portal.
    • Create “student facing” DEI webpage which will include aforementioned video, information about religious accommodations, and link to University-Wide Discrimination and Retaliation Reporting Portal
  6. Onboarding Process for New Hires
    • Reorganize process so that E-SPARC, Workplace Violence, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training is a mandatory part of the onboarding process for new hires.
    • Include in new faculty and staff orientation information regarding religious accommodation and accessibility at Kingsborough
    • Include in new faculty and staff orientations information about CUNY’s University-Wide Discrimination and Retaliation Reporting Portal.
