Campus Update - March 16, 2020

Good morning all,

Please see email from Chancellor Matos Rodriguez dated March 16, 2020. I echo his sentiments. These are uncertain times, which are calling for us to function in unprecedented ways. The health and safety of our college community is of primary importance as is doing as much as we can to safe guard academic continuity.  Indeed your stability, solidarity and commitment to students during this time has been nothing short of incredible. I am honored, now more than ever to be a part of Kingsborough Community College. I ask that you continue to be patient as we work through this together.

The college is NOT CLOSED. In fact, this week, there are a number of staff members who are essential to the work that must be done over the next two days, namely developing plans for remote work and staggered schedules for employees preparing for distance learning and remote work (there are also faculty and students participating in trainings) ensuring ongoing communication; and maintaining operations continuity which involves a number of staff members from IT, HR (payroll), and bursar as well as other areas.

Even with all that has to be done, we are committed to doing our part to stop the spread of COVID-19, implement social-distancing strategies, reduce employee travel during peak hours, and limit the number of individuals on campus.

As information becomes available I will share it with the campus community.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me or your division’s VP.

Many thanks,

Schrader
