Neil Kernis

Assistant Professor – Department of English

Professor Kernis earned an Ed.D. in Adult Learning and Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University, in 2020.  Prior to joining Kingsborough Community College, he taught courses in ESL writing, critical thinking, and developmental reading at Borough of Manhattan Community College from 2014 to 2022.  He has also taught at LaGuardia Community College in Long Island City, NY, Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, and the University of the West in Timisoara, Romania. His research interests include transformative learning and transition management, particularly among nontraditional ESL students in institutions of higher education.
