Kingsborough Community College Ranked #1 2022 Best Community College In New York By Niche.Com
Kingsborough Community College (KCC) earned the top spot in Niche.com’s 2022 Best Community Colleges in New York, ranking No. 1 of New York State’s 37 community colleges. Niche also ranked KCC No. 63 of 845 in their list of Best Community Colleges in America.
In addition, five other City University of New York (CUNY) community colleges ranked in the top 10: Queensborough (No. 3), Hostos (No. 4), Guttman (No. 5), BMCC (No. 6), and LaGuardia (No. 7).
KCC received high marks for its student life programs, diversity, safety, and location. One student reviewer wrote: “My college experience was terrific. Kingsborough Community College really cares about their students in which the professors and the staff put a lot of effort in so their students can succeed.” Another gushed: “Once I started attending Kingsborough, I was received with so much love by the staff and received help in every department. The teachers were awesome.”
“Our priority is student success,” noted KCC President Claudia Schrader. “We have a dedicated team of faculty and staff helping our students gain the knowledge and skills they need to take their place in the world. The Niche ranking, along with the student and alumni reviews, affirms that we are successfully serving our students.”
Kingsborough has earned recognition as a Leader College of Distinction for excellence in student success by Achieving the Dream, and has been identified six consecutive times as a Top Community College in the Nation by the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program.

Kingsborough Community College has made the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program’s list of semifinalists for the 2025 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, making us eligible to compete for $1 million in shared prize funds. (We’re the only semifinalist from New York State!)
