KCC Expands Its Virtual Portfolio

KCC’s FLEX program has expanded its offerings on online associate degrees.
KCC Expands Its Virtual Portfolio: Only CUNY College To Offer Fully Online Associate Degrees In Accounting, Criminal Justice, Business Of Fashion, And Tourism & Hospitality
Kingsborough Community College (KCC) has added several new majors to its FLEX degree program: a fully online Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree in criminal justice, an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in accounting, and Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degrees in business of fashion and tourism and hospitality. KCC is the only CUNY college offering those majors fully online.
The new online degrees join the College’s expanding portfolio of affordable and flexible ways to earn a degree. Other fully online programs at KCC include an A.A. degree in liberal arts, A.S. degrees in business administration, community health and chemical dependency counseling, and a certificate in alcoholism and substance counseling.
“We are very committed to supporting the changing needs of our students,” noted Provost Joanne Russell. “Many of our students are caretakers or parents and most work full- or part-time. It’s important they have the same academic and transfer opportunities as in-person students, but in a more flexible format.”
FLEX Program Manager Herschella Steele, who earned a college degree as an adult learner, knows that transitioning back into the classroom can be challenging after time away. She helped build a team who works with students one-on-one to overcome any issues they may face. “Our coaches help students create a manageable schedule based on their goals, needs and study preferences. They also help them explore financial aid options and map out a clear educational plan. We celebrate with you as you walk across the stage at graduation!”
“The staff is amazing!” exclaimed recent FLEX liberal arts student Michellele McCarthy, a mother of two who also works part time. “They make you feel secure in completing your degree. There’s always someone there to answer your question and congratulate you. KCC FLEX is the best decision I’ve made because it gave me the flexibility to finish my degree and still be there for my children – and work.” McCarthy is now pursuing an online bachelor’s degree at CUNY’s School of Professional Studies.
Like all KCC graduates, once they’ve earned their associate degree, FLEX graduates are guaranteed admission to a 4-year CUNY college, where they can work towards their bachelor’s degree.
Applications are currently being accepted for the Spring 2022 semester, which begins on March 5. For information on how to apply, call 718-368-6995 or visit www.kbcc.cuny.edu/kccflex.
