Shannon Caravello has been teaching at Kingsborough Community College since 2007. She specializes in health and safety courses such as PEW 2100 - Women's Self Defense, HE 2000 - Community CPR, and HE 3500 - First Aid and Personal Safety. She holds a Masters of Science degree in Education - Physical Education from Brooklyn College and has completed post graduate course work in public health at Brooklyn College. She holds her Classroom Teacher, Initial Certification in Physical Education from the New York State Education Department. She is a Certified Instructor for the American Red Cross as well as the Women's Self-Defense Institute in NY. She plans on furthering her education in the public health field with an interest in sustainability, food justice, healthy food access and healthy eating educational outreach programs. An avid community gardener and volunteer urban farmer, she can often be found at the KCC Urban farm, shoveling compost, planting, harvesting and assisting with educational programming. |
