CHI 100 - Elementary Chinese I

Introduction to Mandarin for students with no previous training in the language. Emphasis
on pronunciation and basic sentence structure for conversational Chinese using the pinyin Romanization system. The Chinese writing system in simplified characters also introduced for reading purposes.
Not open to native speakers.

CHI 200 - Elementary Chinese II

One-semester course in Mandarin for students with no previous training in the language. Further development of skills for conversing in Chinese. Emphasis on the learning of basic pronunciation, reading and writing are taught in characters.
