English 82: Gay and Lesbian Literature

This course is about the universal themes of literature, such as the meaning of love, the role of nonconformity, the search for spirituality, and the power of family, within the context of gay and lesbian literature. It also offers the opportunity to study literary themes expressed in gay and lesbian literature, including persecution and identity, the urban experience, definitions of romance, sexuality and self-knowledge, the plight of the outcast, and alternative families. This course is part of the Women's Studies curriculum.
