11/3/2023
DEADLINE EXTENSION: Monday, November 13th, 2023
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear College Community,
I am pleased to share with you the following Call for Proposals for Kingsborough Community College’s (KCC) 2024 Sense of Belonging Grants, available to individuals, groups and or departments and offices to develop/host student-centered activities that promote students’ sense of belonging in their department and at KCC. The Call is open to any full-time member of the faculty or staff.
As we know a strong sense of belonging has a great impact on student success and retention. Students regularly share with me how welcoming and helpful faculty and staff are and what an incredible place KCC is. We need to continue to ensure that we deliver not only excellent customer/student service but also continue to show students that they belong here. It is this ability to cultivate a sense of belonging for our students that makes Kingsborough very special.

Please take a look at previously funded grants, that included a series of reverse student focused town halls where students were given opportunities to express their needs for progression, a talent show that tapped into the artistic side of STEAM students, and a workshop that introduced students to resources on campus and communicated the importance of developing relationships and normalizing asking for help, just to name a few.

- Indicate whether it is a new project or a project expansion
- Offer an approach that highlights KCC distinctive strengths and/or addresses gaps through new programs, activities, or the improvement of existing programs and activities.
- Clearly proposed outcomes – ex: The program will help provide a sense of community among xx population of students by hosting xx.
- Clearly stated impact – ex: Who are the students this program will serve? How will this program make an impact on the population you are trying to serve?

- Plan for evaluation to include stakeholder feedback and impact, to include the collection of participant name and emplid.
