The Art Department at Kingsborough Community College is dedicated to providing a comprehensive
program of study in the visual arts, designed to prepare students of diverse life
experience for either continued baccalaureate study or immediate entry into a range
of visual art professions.
The Department of Behavioral Sciences offers a full range of courses in the disciplines
of Anthropology, Psychology, and Sociology. These courses satisfy college degree and
program requirements for the CUNY Pathways Flexible Core, groups A-E (Pathways: Common
Core).
Our courses promote an understanding of modern biological principles, foster independent
thinking, deepen the understanding of biology's relevance to modern societal issues
and encourage personal growth in scientific writing and research. Many courses have
internet components to improve the students analytical powers and information technology
skills which are valuable for success in life beyond college.
Business majors earn half of their credits in the Business department and the other
half of their degree is in liberal arts. Business department courses are in the disciplines
of Accounting, Business Administration, Retail Management and Economics.
The Department of Communications & Performing Arts provides courses that: begin the
preparation of specialists who diagnose and treat persons who have speech, language
and/or hearing disabilities; improve spoken English and oral presentation; foster
an appreciation for music; specialize in training for performance and technical theatre;
examine the effects of the mass media; prepare students for careers in radio, television,
recording and editing
We offer a concentration in Literature, a course sequence in Creative Writing, and
composition classes designed to empower you, as a Kingsborough student, to meet the
reading and writing challenges you’ll find in all your classes and out in the world.
The Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department at Kingsborough provides
an excellent array of sports facilities and programs. Our sports facilities consist
of two gymnasiums, a dance studio, two squash courts, an olympic size swimming pool,
fitness rooms, four tennis courts, and an athletic field.
The members of the Department of History, Philosophy, and Political Science at Kingsborough
Community College comprise a group of professional scholars and teachers who are dedicated
to the pursuit of knowledge and the education of students. The study of the liberal
arts not only prepares students for understanding the world they live in, but also
enables them to acquire valuable skills that are applicable to many careers.
Welcome to the department of Mathematics and Computer Science. The department offers
an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree in Mathematics, an A.S. in Computer Science,
as well as an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Computer Information
Systems. Our degree programs are designed both for career oriented students, as well
as for students who aim to further their education in a four year college.
The Department of Physical Sciences provides the foundation courses needed to transfer
into four-year programs in chemistry, engineering, earth and planetary science or
physics.
The Department of Tourism and Hospitality at Kingsborough Community College is dedicated
to preparing students for careers and further study in the rapidly evolving tourism
and hospitality industry. By encouraging active learning, we allow students to accumulate
the knowledge and skills necessary for success in the industry.
